SELECTED BIBLIOGRAPHY

Although the author consulted a much greater multitude of publications than what is listed below, the following selection has been limited to only those which were directly mentioned or quoted from in the essay; leaving anything un-cited to the realm of general knowledge, or that which is easily verified. Indeed, the overall scope of reference involved in this work was, itself, something of an exercise in limitation — being mainly restricted to the author's own personal library, with the thought of reigning in a potentially interminable subject at the expense of the aid of certain resources and insights. It is hoped, though not expected, that the results suffer little from this admittedly insular approach.
